Togikwatako MPs suggest debating M7s exit, thrown out of NRM caucus

MPs are Theodore Ssekikubo (Lwemiyaga County), Barnabas Tinkasimire (Buyaga West), John Baptist Nambeshe (Manjiya County), Gaffa Mbwatekamwa (Kasambya County), Patrick Nsamba (Kassanda County), Sylvia Rwabwogo (Kabarole District), Acidiri James (Maracha East).and Kinkiizi West MP James Kaberuka have been thrown out of the NRM caucus meeting by president Museveni.

”We demanded that since the president was around, it was time to discuss the matter of peaceful transition without tampering with the constitution,” Lwemiyaga MP Ssekikubo explained to press outside parliament as the cause.

“I think they are planning to loot this country, they have chased us from the caucus, that is violating the constitution of the party. So now they have violated each constitution,”

The no-nonsense legislature added that Museveni has been bewitched by a clique of selfish legislators.

“We have known Museveni to be tolerant, but what they are doing is treacherous to the party and nation, we are all members of the NRM at all levels. President Museveni is bewitched, a clique that has surrounded him is misleading him, “Ssekikubo said.

Hon Gaffa Mbwatekamwa the Kasambya county MP said this is more or less betrayal and dismissal from the party without cause: “Our party has betrayed us; we have been dismissed from our party , this is not good for our country.”

At the beginning of the session seated at the presidents office near parliement, the party chief whip, Ruth Nankabirwa told the president of the rebel MPs total descent to the life presidency project and proposed they get kicked out of the caucus or they declare whether they are with ‘us’ or not.

Accordingly, the rebel MPs answered “We are NRM caucus members but we wrote to president to raise our concerns and that letter was received by himself. We said since when has cabinet run away from its duty and left the Bill to a back bencher?” MP Ssekikubo answered.

Its then that he proposed that since the president is present let the transition issue be debated and solved.

In response the President said he received the petition and he will answer, but said “In the meantime those opposed must leave,”

MP Ssekikubo said president Museveni ordered the MPs to leave because he fears they will reveal to the public what had transpired in the caucus.

“I think they are planning to loot this country, they have chased us from the caucus, that is violating the constitution of the party. So now they have violated each constitution,” Ssekikubo said.
