Abiriga's home, family survives being set ablaze

Yellow boy Abiriga’s family is living in fear after their home in Anyafio village was attacked Saturday night by enraged residents armed with petrol to set them ablaze

It is reported that the suspected arsonists took advantage of the heavy down pour in the night at around 11 pm to cut the windows protective wire-mesh and attempted to push in a five liters gerican of petrol.

Abiriga’s wife Aminah Sijali, who was in the house with 10 other people mainly children, elaborated the incident to reporters.

“I was already sleeping with my five young children when my sister in-law called on me asking whether I was the one opening the door, but when I checked, I found part of the wire mesh was already cut and the people had fled,” said terrified Aminah,

She immediately called the police officer guarding their home who found one five litters petrol abandoned at the door way while another half pushed through the cut mesh.

MP Abiriga, the centre of Age limit controversy, who was in Kampala at the time told “TheUgandan” news on phone that he is not worried of the incident since he has nothing personal with anyone

The police officer (names withheld) guarding Abiriga’s home said by the time the arsonists came through the front, he was guarding a vehicle parked behind the house, which has been victim of daily vandalism by unknown thieves,

Police detectives led by the SOCO (Francis) visited the home, recorded statements and have opened a file of attempted arson under CRB ARU 2952/2017

Aminah says since Abiriga took up the controversial Age limit bill, their home has been stoned by residents their yellow vehicle tyres stolen or punctured nearly every night. “We live in fear” She said

In a related development, the home of Dravu Stephen, the father of MP Evelyn Anite in Mvara was recently attacked by unknown people but no one was injured.

The home is now tightly guarded by police and private security officers.
