Matembe drags parliament to court over 2005 term removal~Video


  • The former Ethics and Integrity minister has dragged the Parliament to Constitutional Court accusing it of conspiring to remove presidential term limits from the constitution.

  • The legislators were each bribed with Shs 5m

  • The petition has been received by the Constitutional Court registry today [Tuesday]. It is accompanied by the affidavit from renowned law professor Fredrick Ssempebwa who chaired the 2001 Constitutional Review Commission that was charged with the duty to study, review and recommend changes in the 1995 Constitution.

Matembe says, that all government institutions have collapsed which those who formulated the 1995 constitution feared


“Enough is enough. Let us challenge the removal of term limits and push for its reinstatement. We have been preparing this for a long time.”
