Defiance activists are dangerous to both FDC and Uganda - Muntu

While on his FDC Party Presidency campaign in the Teso sub region delegates, candidate Mugisha Muntu who is seeking another term of Office warned Ugandans that some of his colleagues in the Party subscribing to activism under the defiance campaign pose a great danger to both FDC and Uganda.

“We have supported defiance as a party by contributing money and in terms of policies we make as a party. The only thing I care about is that psychology of its only we of defiance who matter, the rest don’t. People who do that can be a danger to not only the party but also to the country” Mugisha Muntu said adding that if not checked early this group has capacity to grow into a political cult.

Here below we reproduce the whole speech

Defiance is a legitimate tool. I participated in it in physical terms by taking up arms. I went to the bush and fought for 5years. What is more of defiance than that?. I know colleagues in defiance who are so passionate about this country but there are some who use defiance opportunistically. We sat as a party and instituted a five-member defiance committee led by Hon.Ssemuju.

The committee proposed a number of activities like stay home(I stayed home), defiance prayers (I attended all) and a countrywide demonstration on 5th May 2016.By 8am, I was already at H/Q where the demonstration was to begin.None of those accusing me of not supporting defiance was there. We have supported defiance as a party by contributing money and in terms of policies we make as a party.

The only thing I care about is that psychology of its only we of defiance who matter, the rest don’t. People who do that can be a danger to not only the party but also the country. I know it because I have lived it. Some of us thought that we went to the bush to usher in democracy in country;change the political culture but some group looked at fighting as a tool of entitlement. The could say “we fought in the bush, where were you?, ” we liberated you where were you”? and we didn’t check this early in the movement. Now you hear people say we were here and there, where were you?. That is a bitter and poisonous seed.if you let it grow, you will pay the price as a party and as a country.
