The Uganda Police force has issued summons to a group of Ugandan legislators who recently vowed to stop the tabling of a bill seeking to amend the presidential age limit in the constitution.

According to a letter addressed to the speaker of parliament a number of the members of parliament who include Muhammad Nsereko(Kampala central), Theodore Ssekikubo(Lwemiyaga), Barnabas Tinkasimire(Buyaga) and Allan Ssewanyana (Makindye) have be asked to report to the office of the commissioner on Media crimes tomorrow Tuesday 19th September, 2017.

It further states that the said legislators allegedly committed crimes of offensive communication and incitements to violence.

It should be remembered that on Tuesday last week, MP Nsereko and other five legislators swore to do all it takes to stop the tabling if the bill in Parliament seeking to scrap off the cap on presidential age limit which had been scheduled for the following Thursday. However, this did not effect but rather ushered in a communication from the ICT minister Frank Tumwebaze, explaining how cabinet had blessed Rafael Magyezi(MP Igara West) to go ahead and table his bill.

Sources indicate that the long awaited move is now scheduled for this Thursday 21st September, 2017 as Hon Magyezi will be doing his thing on the flow on the house.

The news of summoning these legislators leave the country wondering as to whether these legislators will continue with the moves to bar the presentation of the bill or they will chicken out.

If this bill is passed, then President Museveni, a man who has ruled this East African nation since 1986 will be eligible of contesting again for presidency in 2021, when the country goes for another presidential election.
