UPDF denies giving Kenyatta reign enforcement

UPDF spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire has refuted reports that UPDF is on standby to support security operations in Kenya following post-electoral violence in some areas.

“The UPDF wishes to totally denounce these allegations which are totally false, alarmist and misleading. There are absolutely no such preparations and no team of officers has been sent out to Kenya in preparation for such. The Republic of Kenya is a sovereign country and as such, its security and that of its people are exclusively within their domain,” part of the statement read

More than 14 people are reported dead and several others injured in post-electoral violence in some parts of Kenya including, KIbera, Mathare and Kisumu.

Last week, Uhuru Kenyatta was declared winner of Kenya’s highly contested presidential election which Raila Odinga has continuously termed as ‘fraud’

Raila Odinga on Saturday urged his supporters during a rally in Kibera to boycott work today as they await for announcement of NASA’s ‘next move’ tomorrow.
