DEATH OF FIELD-MARSHAL IDI AMIN DADA: It is 14 years since the death of former Uganda’s President Hajji Idi Amin Dada.  Ssaalongo Idi Amin Dada died on 16th August 2003 at Kingsley Faisal Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia were he had been admitted for more than a month.

He died from kidney failure and while on his death bed, one of his wives Madina Amin pleaded with President Yoweri Museveni to allow her husband return to Uganda for the remainder of his life. However, Museveni replied that Amin would have to answer for his sins the moment he was brought back to Uganda. Amin is credited for having acted a true nationalist during his tenure of office.

Today Museveni who at the death of Amin said that he couldn’t touch his body even with a long stick has made up with Amin’s family and last week he was in Masindi campaigning for his grandson Taban Amin who returned to Parliament unopposed.
