Parliamentary Police Directorate has warned MPs about a new wave of conmen were families and friends of members of parliament have fallen victims.

This was communicated in a letter dated 27/ 07/2017, signed by D/CP Katto.

It is revealed that culprits are using a complicated technological method through which they send messages to relatives and friends asking them to send money to some people via mobile money.

“These conmen pretend that they are MPs and are held up in meetings promising to refund shortly”, the letter revealed.

It added that the messages on phone screens show the exact numbers of MPs, relatives and friends of Hon.  Kasirivu, Hon. Gerald Karuhanga, leader of opposition Hon. Winnie Kiiza and others have fallen victims.

The letter urges Clerks to alert members of parliament so that in return they warn friends, relatives and constituents.
