Parliament summons Lwengo district Chairman over age limit bill

The Parliamentary committee on Local Government and Public Service has summoned the Chairman of Lwengo district also President of Uganda Local governments Association (ULGA) to explain where he obtained mandate and funds from to organise an all local leaders conference last Week.


George Mutabazi last week convened the said meeting after informing participants that it was to be addressed by President Museveni.


However sources close to Mutabazi indicate that the meeting was to be used to mobilise local leaders to support the lifting of the presidential age limit.


The meeting turned rowdy and delegates poured water on justice and constitutional Affairs minister, Kahinda Otafiire who had gone to represent the President.


With the urging of the MP for Mukono Municipality also shadow minister for local government, Betty Nambooze the committee also wants Mutabazi to explain his the circumstances under which he was bundle off a Rwandair fright to Kampala recently.


“Mutabazi should explain why he is mobilising against the constitution and why he behaves in a manner that brings disrepute to our country, ” Nambooze said.
