Obore praises Besigye, scorns Matembe on Ofwono Opondo attacks

Chris Obore, the director of communications at parliament has praised Dr. Kizza Besigye’s political maturity, at the same time scorning Hon. Miria Matembe for preaching hate with a passion.

“When an activist uses hate or attacks others, they are cheered.  When Matembe belittles others, she is often cheered. When Ofwono Opondo goes bare knuckle he is condemned.

What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Besigye is the most known and perhaps committed opposition figure but I have hosted him before, discussed with him but never has Besigye insulted anyone. Never has he ever chickened out of any debate because he dislikes the other panelists. He puts his argument in a spirited manner. “, Obore noted.

He pointed out that while in parliament, Matembe belittled people from eastern and northern Uganda by arguing that they are not skilled and that is why there is  an imbalance in public job placements.

Obore’s criticisms are as a result of live clashes between Matembe and Ofwono on NBS TV’s frontline program on Thursday night.

Matembe attacked Ofwono for allocating  himself Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) cows.

This forced Ofwono to go on the offensive arguing that he also heard people condemning Matembe’s husband for sleeping with a house maid.

It was at this point that DP president Norbert Mao tried to calm the situation by calling for respect despite disagreements.

“However much you disagree with somebody, going personal is not good. I accepted to be part of # NBS Frontline because I wanted Ugandans to be informed.” Mao said.

Dr. Kizza Besigye, Justice Minister, Kahinda Otafiire and Democratic Party (DP) President Norbert Mao were the other panelists on the show.

On the same program Dr Kizza Besigye   warned his bush war comrade Gen. Kahinda Otafiire about the age limit bill.

Dr. Besigye said that, “its painful sitting next to my comrade and freedom fighter Otafiire who at his mature age says he’s just Museveni’s loudspeaker. It’s sad that a person like Otafiire who jumped dead bodies is playing politics; he was even like a stick but now he’s fat.”

Gen. Kahinda Otafiire fired back by admitting that he is Museveni’s loudspeaker because he was appointed by Museveni and he doesn’t represent the people of Ankole.
