Joy as Kabaka arrives in Buweekula for 24th coronation~VIDEO


The 36th Buganda kingdom’s Kabaka, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi will mark 24 years since he was enthroned King on July 31 1993 at the kingdom’s coronation site at Nagalabi, Budo.


This year’s event will be held at Buwekula County headquarters in Mubende district, where the King spent the night.

Ahmad Lwasa, the Buganda Lukiiko deputy speaker and chairman of the days organizing committee, told press all activities are underway and in high gear and the entire Kingdom is in the moods to welcome the Kabaka


Ahead of the main event, several activities including sports, health and legal aid camps have been successfully held.


Rugby competitions were held at Namilyango College on July 23, prayers at Kibuli and Old Kampala and other mosques (July 28), bicycle racing on July 29, prayers at Kireka and Najjanannkumbi Seventh Day Adventist Churches (July 29) and prayers at Rubaga Cathedral for Catholics, Namirembe for Anglicans and Namungoona for Orthodox have been held in commemoration of the event.


Mayanja Nkalubo the minister for the Kabaka and bulungi bwansi has cautioned Kabaka’s loyalists against blocking roads.


“We know you love the Kabaka but stop prostrating in the middle of the roads and blocking them. It disrupts traffic thus inconveniencing other travellers. We should stay disciplined to portray a good image,” she said.


She asked people to welcome the Kabaka in big numbers along the roads and at the venue in an organized way.


The event is to kick off at 9am local time with various ceremonies as per organizers. The Kabaka is expected to arrive at the main venue at about 10.30am local time.
