AGE LIMIT: Ashamed police denies Kaihura ban
Asan Kasingye, the Police spokesperson has told public that Kaihura never said or even mentioned banning age limit Debate at Universities or institutions of learning.
The Police spokesman has said the assertions and the publication as false.
“The IGP did not use those words as alleged by the journalist at any one time and neither did he communicate to anyone on phone.
Therefore, as an officer who upholds and observes rule of law in this country, he did not give any orders or instructions to any of his officers to ban public debates in Universities as alleged, ” said Asan Kasingye, Police spokesperson.
“The police are well aware that universities and tertiary institutions are learning environments where open and robust expressive activities are highly promoted. We do encourage universities to continue facilitating openly such expressive activities with total respect to the law,” he added.
