Fire guts Salabed plaza-Kampala
A devastating fire on Thursday night gutted Salabed plaza that is used as a store for imported goods in Kisenyi destroying merchandise worth millions of shillings.
The mysterious fire which started around 8: 30pm razed wooden stalls, kiosks and shops close to the plaza causing a number of traders to faint as they observed their properties turn to ash.
Some traders tried to push their way into the plaza and nearby stalls to save what could have remained of their merchandise but police stopped them over their own safety.
Property destroyed includes; Computers, rice, timber among other items.
Like in the past infernos at the market, the police fire engines arrived much later to join traders and Fire Masters company team that were fighting the flame.
Traders have trashed the cause of the fire being a short circuit; claiming it was deliberate.
Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Emilliano Kayima, confirmed destruction kiosks and property saying police fire brigade finally managed to contain the inferno.
