Brenda Atim Kinyera, the national chairperson of the Youth Wing of Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) Party has been arrested in connection with the assassination of John Oola Omona, the Deputy Town Clerk of Gulu.

Omona was killed by suspected iron bar hit men shortly after dropping off a female friend identified as Alice Kipwola on Tuesday May 23 from Kanyagoga Parish in Bar Dege Division.

Atim is among nine suspects being questioned in connection with the tragic incident. Aswa Regional Police Spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema says the suspects were picked up after a phone printout of the deceased indicated that they spoke to him a few days before the incident.

He said four of the suspects are being interrogated in Kampala while five are at Gulu Central Police Station. He however declined to release their particulars.
