Schools not to admit children whose parents have no National IDs

Both government and private schools will not admit learners whose parents didn’t register for the National identity card, this term as government moves to enforce Mrs. Museveni order to have all children in Uganda registered.

School administrators are sending out messages to parents to carry along their identity cards as they take their children back to school so as the have them registered

A message seen by the SpearNews reads:

“Greetings from ……….. (The name of the school has been edited out) You are reminded to come with a photocopy of your National Id as you report your child to school tomorrow to carry out gov’t student registration.”

Without specifying why, Mrs Museveni who is also the Minister for education ordered for registration of all learners in the country whom she said are going to be given national identification numbers.

Ugandans at the moment are being subjected to various forms of registration that include registration for National identity cards, registration of sim card holders among others. Government crushingly got to this exercise after the cold blood assassination of late AIGP Andrew Kaweesi saying it needs this data in order to keep the country secure.
