Museveni hosts daughters Kuhingirwa ceremony in state house

In a show of impunity and turning Uganda state into a personal family, last weekend Museveni’s family hosted a Kuhingira (traditional official give away) ceremony of his daughter Georgina to her suitor identified as Phillip at state house Entebbe.

In Ankole culture, the girls’ family hosts the Kuhingira in their ancestral home and they are supposed to give her gifts in form of household items (Emihingiro) and family blessings to start a home.

It is said according to online news source Georgina, who is in her mid-20s is one of the President’s favorite daughters who hooked up with Phillip while studying at Uganda Christian University, Mukono a few years ago.

Yesterday, the   members of parliament passed a budget of over 200 billion shillings to fund state house activities. The budget met stiff resistance from the opposition members who argued that the bugdet was exergerrated meant to waste tax payers money.

Indeed the opposition members were right to complain as this traditional wedding clearly indicates house the tax payers money is spent lavishly by the president on issues that are non developmental to an everyday Ugandan.

This is not the first time that the president has spent lavishly on his family. In 2003, he spent at least £20,000 from state coffers flying his daughter to Europe in his presidential jet so she could have a baby in a western hospital. Natasha Museveni gave birth to a daughter in Germany and was flown home to Uganda a month later.
