Moroto DPC suspended for meddling in by-election process

Edson Turyamoe, the acting Moroto District Police Commander has been removed from office  for meddling in the National Resistance Movement party primaries for the Moroto Woman MP by-elections.

He has been replaced by Irene Achieng, the Karamoja Region Police Spokesperson.

It follows complaints by Margret Iriama, one of the former aspirants and her supporters against Turyamoe.

Iriama accused the officer of siding with her rival, Stella Atyang, the LC V Chairman, Andrew Keem Napaja, Dr. John Baptist Lokii, Matheniko MP and his Moroto Municipality counterpart, Fred Angella during the party primaries to terrorize voters and frustrate her bid.

Atyang sailed through unopposed. According to Iriama’s camp, the DPC was used to make unlawful orders against their members that earned her rival, the NRM flag. The antagonistic camps called for disciplinary action against the implicated leaders during their meeting with the president, Yoweri Museveni who also doubles as the NRM party chairperson.
