Three children have sustained severe injuries and are undergoing treatment at Kitgum Hospital after bomb blast in Lamwo district on Friday.

The incident happened in Padwat North West Village, in Padwat Parish, Palabek Ogili Sub County at about 10am as their parents, Francis Ochen and Grace Ayoo, were working in the garden. The victims are  10-year-old Vincent Oketayot, Denis Oyenga who is aged five and Jessy Aber aged three.

Police visited the scene and recovered another 82 mm bomb in the same area.

The recovery brings to 139 unexploded ordnance identified in various places in Acholi sub region waiting for detonation.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa River Police Spokesperson says Oketayot lost his fingers on one hand as they played with the unexploded ordnance. He says the weapon is believed to have been a hand grenade.

Okema says Police is logistically constrained to remove or detonate the dangerous weapons.
